5 Great Road Trip DestinationsOn February 11, 2021 by Rafael Allen
The United States is almost a sub-continent on its own. It also offers the right blend of beauty with various breathtaking sites and unique experiences. Going on a road trip is a sure way to experience such sites. You get to meet new people and indulge yourself in novel cuisines. On that note, here are five great road trip destinations.
1. The Aurora Ice Museum in Alaska
Alaska is like a scene taken straight out of a Disney fairytale movie. You’ll find a snow-laden landscape, sapphire blue skies, and wild moose scampering past you. When in Alaska, the Aurora Ice Museum at Fairbanks is one place you just have to visit. During the day, you can ride on a dog sled, snowboard, or ski cross-country.
At night, you can observe the emerald wonders of the aurora borealis (northern lights). In all this, don’t forget to use your lip balm and sunscreen to help prevent sun damage. Even in a cold environment, UV light from the sun’s rays is present and there is still a risk of skin cancer or sunburn. In fact, snow enhances the reflection of UV rays. This is why you should be wearing sunscreen in winter. The last thing you want is an expensive visit to a dermatologist after the trip.
2. Taos Pueblo in New Mexico
New Mexico is a bubbling hub of activity. With over 300 days of sunshine, you’re sure to enjoy this state’s natural geothermal mineral springs. There are also Native American-inspired spas and the Native American community of Taos Pueblo is also worth visiting. It’s the only Native American entity in the U.S that’s a UNESCO heritage site and a national landmark. What’s more, these adobe buildings have been continuously inhabited for at least a thousand years.
To enjoy the winding journey, you need the right motorhome or RV with a higly rated RV extended warranty. An RV warranty from a good warranty provider will prevent financial loss in the event of a vehicle breakdown or if roadside assistance is needed.
What’s more, regardless of the type of RV you have, as an RV owner, you must get the right RV insurance from a reputable insurance company. This will give you peace of mind as you explore all that Taos Pueblo has to offer. This includes the beautiful sites you will encounter as you cruise along the open road in your motorhome.
3. Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami
Miami is one city that has it all. There are beautiful beaches set amongst sprawling estates. Even better is the rich Latino culture and the perfect weather conditions. You can also visit lovely museums and art galleries, like the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.
This is a national landmark owned by the renowned agricultural industrialist James Deering. Inside, you’ll find the main parlor full of priceless art. There’s also a mangrove shore, ten acres of garden, and a historic village. This is all illustrative of a historical era of opulence. What’s more, the tickets are also very affordable. All in all, the Miami ambiance offers divine peace of mind (although you should be wearing sunscreen here, too, of course).
4. Ecola State Park in Oregon
Oregon is a state that offers all the wonders of nature. There are seventy-nine state parks, full of shaggy rocks, undulating landscapes, and beautiful aqua life. Lazy sea lions and dancing jellyfishes are just a few of the beauties you’ll also encounter.
One park that’s certainly worth a visit is the Ecola State Park.
This nine-mile stretch of coastline offers enthralling sightseeing recreational activities. It also has a rich history and has been pictured and extolled in many blockbuster movies. Whatever cravings you have about nature will be satiated—be it by the cliffside viewpoints or the lush Sitka spruce forest.
5. Audubon Aquarium New Orleans
When you hear the name New Orleans, jazz and Mardi Gras come to mind. This city has festivity, music, and graceful spirits intertwined with its existence. There’s also a collection of animal sanctuaries run by the Audubon Institute. One of these is the Audubon Aquarium.
The Audubon Aquarium is located along the banks of the famous Mississippi River. It’s flanked by a couple of historic sites and parks and contains approximately 530 species of animals. This sums up to about 10,000 in total. If you want to appreciate aqua life, this is one of the best ways. Plus, nothing stops you from timing your travel with Mardi Gras.
